3. Crime, Death, Murder, Accident, and Police Pics (& More): deep within the online gallery of the fabulous New York City Municipal Archives, you'll find 1000+ crime/police/accident/death scene photos & mugshots from 1915-1940s -- a riveting window into New York City history, but proceed with caution, as some pics are graphic. Browse here by date or category. Category examples: "alien squad" (includes over 100+ pics . . . the NYPD's "alien squad" photographed, in the '30s-'40s, both Communist & Nazi-sympathizer gatherings, with Nazi sympathizers calling themselves "Christian Mobilizers"), "animal rescue," "crime and criminals" (1000+ pics) "floating bodies," "murder," "Lucky Luciano," "suicide," and "weapons." As for neighborhood crime pics, there are more categories specific to Queens than any other borough: see Alley Pond Park, Astoria, Corona, Far Rockaway, Flushing, Long Island City, Maspeth, Ozone Park, Richmond Hill, & St. Albans.
